Launching 2027

Every payment, sorted.

Paywala is a new UK payments company. Acquiring, issuing, wallets and loyalty on one platform, built by people who have done it before.

  • 60+ yearsin payments, banking and financial crime across the three founders
  • Fourthregulated payments business the team has built, and the first for themselves
  • With Visaon venue programmes, tokenisation and cross-border campaigns
  • In scopingwith clubs and venues across the sporting world

One platform to take, make and move money.

Acquiring, issuing, wallets, loyalty and cross-border, on our own licence, with the rails underneath partnered rather than built.

Acquiring

Take payments anywhere. In store, online and in between. Cards and account-to-account, side by side at the same checkout, settled to you fast.

Issuing

Cards, your way. Consumer, corporate and prepaid cards, physical and digital, with the controls set per programme. Your brand on the front, our licence behind it.

Wallets and accounts

Safeguarded balances, closed-loop value and instant transfers for members, staff and supporters.

Loyalty and data

Earn-and-spend tiers, every transaction recognised through tokenisation, and the data back to you.

Cross‑border

Local-currency pricing, FX and inbound visitor campaigns, run with Visa, so a visiting fan pays the way they do at home.

Point of sale

Terminals, softPOS and kiosks through our global POS partner, from the shop to the fan zone.

Built for the places people pay.

Four sectors first, each with live conversations behind it.

Sport and events

Fan wallets and loyalty, card programmes from supporters to staff and players, cashless venues, and inbound visitor campaigns with Visa. In scoping with clubs and venues across the sporting world.

Online and high-growth brands

Cards and account-to-account at one checkout, for brands losing sales to a single-rail payment stack.

Hospitality, retail and fleets

Account-to-account first with cards alongside, and point of sale on the counter, for hotels, restaurants, shops and the businesses that move money by bank transfer today.

Specialist sectors

Regulated and higher-risk businesses that mainstream acquirers turn away. Underwritten properly and monitored closely, not declined by keyword.

A club programme, in five steps.

What our sport and events partners are scoping with us. The same shape works for a venue, a festival or a members' club.

  1. Join

A supporter opens a wallet in the club app. Onboarding and safeguarding on our licence.

  2. Card

A club-branded Visa card, physical or digital, for supporters, staff and players.

  3. Tap

Every purchase, home or away, recognised through tokenisation. Loyalty tiers apply automatically.

  4. Visit

Visiting fans pay in their own currency, with Visa campaigns before and after the trip.

  5. Learn

The club sees who spent what, where and when, and acts on it.

UnderneathAcquiring, issuing, wallet, tokenisation and financial-crime rails, every one of them from a platform partner. We own the licence and the relationship.

Stablecoins, with Visa.

Visa now settles, pays out and issues cards in stablecoins. Nothing anyone needs on day one, and a door that is open when they do.

What Visa has built

  • Network settlement in stablecoin for issuers and acquirers
  • Visa Direct payouts and pre-funding in stablecoin
  • Stablecoin-linked cards and bank-issued tokens on Visa's platform

What it could mean for you

  • Settle across borders in hours, not days, including at weekends
  • Pay out to players, partners and suppliers in minutes
  • A card programme funded in USDC or EURC when your members want one

What Paywala brings

  • The regulated way in: e-money rails with safeguarding built in
  • Compliant coins only, USDC and EURC under MiCA, not USDT
  • Access through our Visa membership, planned for year two

A new company. Experienced people.

Four reasons partners are choosing to work with us before we go live.

The acquirer in the room

The acquirer is usually the one party nobody at the merchant ever meets. We are involved at every stage, from scoping to go-live and every season after.

We grow with you

Merchants, venues, schemes and platform partners. The commercial model is built to share upside, not to extract it.

Regulated from day one

Safeguarding, onboarding and financial-crime controls built in on an established e-money licence, overseen by a founder who has run them before.

Visa alongside

Visa's UK team works with us on venue programmes, tokenisation and cross-border campaigns. We bring the licence and the product; the scale is already there.

Built by people who have done it before.

Sixty years in payments, banking and financial crime at Mastercard, HSBC, Deutsche Bank, Scotiabank, RBS and Lloyds. The fourth regulated business they have built, and the first for themselves.

Bal Matharu

Co-Founder, Chief Business Development Officer and COO

26 years in payments and financial services at HSBC, Deutsche Bank, Scotiabank, RBS and Lloyds, most recently Chief Business Development Officer at a UK e-money institution. Leads business development, partnerships and delivery.

AJ Wahiwala

Co-Founder, Chief Executive Officer

A UK solicitor with 20 years in payments law and regulation: Mastercard Prepaid Management Services, General Counsel and board member at CashFlows, co-founder of Monavate, and Chief Risk Officer at a UK e-money institution.

Usman Shahid

Co-Founder, Chief Risk Officer and MLRO

14 years in banking and e-money compliance at Lloyds Bank, CashFlows and Monavate, then Head of Financial Crime at a UK e-money institution. Owns risk, safeguarding and the regulator relationship.

Where we are, and where we are going.

A new company on an established licence, built in the open.

  1. Now

    Scoping with launch partners

Programme design and commercials with clubs, venues and merchants. Licence and scheme applications in progress. Processing, card and banking partners being chosen.

  2. 2027

    Go-live

Acquiring, issuing, wallets, loyalty and point of sale, live for the first partner programmes, with Visa alongside.

  3. After launch

    The door that is open

Stablecoin settlement with Visa on compliant coins, more sectors, and programmes for the software platforms and fintechs that want a regulated partner.

Questions, answered.

When does Paywala launch?

Platform go-live is planned for 2027. We are scoping programmes with launch partners now, so the first clubs, venues and merchants will be live from day one. Join the waitlist and you will hear first.

Who is Paywala for?

Sport and events first, then online and high-growth brands, hospitality, retail and fleets, and the specialist sectors that mainstream acquirers turn away. If you take payments, issue cards, hold balances for members or want the data behind all three, we are built for you.

Is Paywala regulated?

Paywala is a trading name of Kimmora Holdings Limited. The group is acquiring an FCA-authorised e-money institution, subject to approval by the Financial Conduct Authority, and is applying for Visa principal membership for acquiring and issuing. Safeguarding, onboarding and financial-crime controls are built into the platform from the start, and are run by a co-founder who has done it before.

Can we start before you go live?

Yes. Scoping, programme design, commercials and integration planning all happen before launch, which is exactly what our first partners are doing now. Talk to us and we will set out what a programme looks like for you.

We already have an acquirer. Why switch?

You do not have to switch everything on day one. Issuing, wallets and loyalty can sit alongside an existing acquirer, and when you are ready we price acquiring on your numbers, not a rate card. The difference is the relationship: an acquirer that is in the room at every stage, and a commercial model built to share upside.

What does "with Visa" mean?

Visa's UK team works with us on venue programmes, tokenisation, cross-border visitor campaigns and, after launch, stablecoin settlement. We bring the licence and the product; the scale is already there.

How do platforms and processors work with Paywala?

Two ways. We are choosing the processing, card and banking platforms we will run on, so if that is you, we would like to talk. And for software platforms and fintechs that need a regulated partner for acquiring, cards or wallets, we sponsor programmes and run the compliance behind them.

Something exciting is coming.

Be first to hear when Paywala goes live, and what we are building for your sector.

One email when we launch, and the occasional update before then. No sharing, no spam. Privacy notice.

You're on the list.

We'll be in touch before launch. If it's sooner than that you need, talk to us.

Talk to us.

Real people, from the first call. Tell us what you are trying to do and we will come back to you within one working day.

Clubs, venues and merchants

Fan and member programmes, cashless venues, checkout for online brands, or a better deal on acquiring. Bring the problem; we will bring the plan.
